Were it not for Luis Gil’s first Monday entry, the Yankees may not have required the lift needed to secure a 6-5 and 10-entry victory over the Twins at the Yankee Stadium.
Again, if it weren’t for his right-hand debutant’s next five innings, this team could be staggering to Baltimore not only with continued funk, but also with a fried bullpen.
It marked this kind of day for Gil, who placed his teammates in a 4-0 hole before they got to batting and ended up with six innings left and leaving only one more run, giving the home team the opportunity to ride a comeback and saving the relief corps from an excessive workload even with the game in overtime.
“It simply came to our notice then.
