Mac Jones was quick to look back after the 17-16 loss to the Dolphins on Sunday. Instead, the rookie Patriots quarterback immediately started looking forward.

Jones was so disappointed with the outcome of his first game that he began preparing for his second game on Sunday night.

Jones said he activated the Jets movie to start getting ready.

“I mean it’s not fun to lose, so just learning what we could have done better is definitely the only thing you can really do,” Jones said, through Mark Daniels of The Providence Journal. “You can sit there and feel a little bad, because this is your human [nature], and this is what you are supposed to do or do not have a wrong profession. But you just have to move on. Therefore, the 24-hour rule, just after 24 hours. Some people are less, but for me after that, you just have to keep going and play the next play, play the next game. You’re just as good as your last game, so we lost and that’s what people remember, so we have to keep going.

Jones completed 29 of 39 passes for 281 yards and a touchdown, but Damien Harris ’red zone faced off with 3:31 remaining and denied Jones a shot on his first win. The Patriots had two losses and eight penalties and scored 13 points on four trips to the red zone.

“I think we’re going in the right direction,” Jones said. “Take it every day and obviously you shouldn’t focus on the past. We just have to focus on what we need to improve. This is something for me. It’s just basically what I can do every day, extra or whatever, just to get better, so when it comes to the game we play fast and play better than we did last week. ”
