Therefore, they are expanding the list of people who can get vaccines in Macomb County. From Saturday, anyone with a disability aged 16 or over can call, set up and make an appointment.
“Basically, what we did was decide that these people with disabilities and other family members or caregivers and even their guardians sometimes had a chance to go ahead and enroll in the vaccine,” Hackel said. “16 years or more. We are working with our school districts to identify people who could be part of these categories. ”
Hackel said this is a big hit, but they are still aimed at seniors first.
Announcements
“Our biggest concern was making sure we took care of our seniors first and I tell you that here we are over 100,000 seniors in Macomb County,” Hackel said.
But how is it determined who tells the truth about their conditions and who does not?
“Much of it is based on the honor system,” Hackel said. “I don’t know too many people who take advantage of that and try to get it.”
Of course, Hackel expects more people to call. There will be more calls and more appointments.
“We’re ready, and again, I think we’ll be able to open up to pretty much everyone (anyone who wants the vaccine) sooner than probably April 5,” Hackel said.
