Apple has released the macOS Big Sur 11.2 update which fixes Bluetooth reliability issues on Macs with the M1 processor.
Users who can upgrade to the latest version can wait for the automatic update to begin overnight, or open the System Preferences application and select Software Update. The update comes along with iOS 14.4, focusing on bug fixes and minor feature updates.
The update is an issue reported by users whose Bluetooth devices were disconnecting from their M1-based Macs. The problem affected peripherals like mice and keyboards and even AirPods.
Other bug fixes for macOS Big Sur 11.2 include:
- External screens may display a black screen when connected to a Mac mini (M1, 2020) using an HDMI to DVI converter
- Modifications to Apple ProRAW photos in the Photos app might not be saved
- iCloud Drive can be turned off after you turn off iCloud Drive Desktop and Documents
- System preferences cannot be unlocked when you enter the administrator password
- The balloon key may not display the Emoji panel and symbols when pressed
