Madeleine McCann’s parents hopefully looking for a daughter

Madeleine McCann’s parents, who have been missing for more than 13 years, say they are still hoping to find her, although research has recently been hampered by the coronavirus pandemic.

Writing a New Year’s message on their official Find Madeleine Campaign website, Gerry and Kate McCann said their thoughts and prayers are of all they have suffered during 2020, according to The Sun newspaper.

“It is understandable that the investigation to find Madeleine has been forced to slow down due to the pandemic,” they wrote. “Yet it has not stopped and the hope, energy and determination to find it and discover the truth remain firm.”

The British girl disappeared in May 2007 from her parents’ holiday rental apartment in a resort in southern Portugal. He was then 3 years old.

Christian Brueckner, a German convicted rapist, is the prime suspect in the case, although prosecutors have said they do not have enough evidence to arrest him in the McCann case.
