Man arrested, charged with murder in connection with the woman’s disappearance in 2019

SAN ANTONO – A 37-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday in connection with the disappearance of his wife in 2019.

Reyes Gallegos was arrested without incident during a traffic stop on the west side of the city, said officer Alisia Pruneda, a spokeswoman for the San Antonio Police Department.

Gallegos repeatedly told reporters that he was innocent and that his children “knew what the truth was,” as he was transferred from the public safety headquarters to the Magistrate’s Office, where he will be formally charged with murder.

An affidavit revealed what happened days before the murder of Cecilia Huertas Gallegos. The document marked the beginning of this case on June 22, 2019.

Police say Gallegos went to work on his wife and confronted one of his co-workers, he even punched the man. Investigators say Huertas Gallegos tried to end the relationship with her husband that day.

Gallegos responded by firing a gun, according to the affidavit. Several other riots were reported to police, including another visit Gallegos made to his wife’s workplace.

Announcements

On July 7, 2019, her co-workers said Huertas Gallegos left to check on her children and that they would never see her again.

Investigators say surveillance cameras placed Huertas Gallegos at his home on Southwick Road on July 7, 2019.

The next day, officers said surveillance cameras were turned off for more than an hour before Gallegos was seen getting into his truck and getting out. Police say he returned with two shovels, garbage bags for contractors, a chainsaw and cleaning supplies.

Reyes Gallegos was arrested for submitting a false police report. The case of the false report was closed last year.

Numerous efforts were made to find Huertas Gallegos, but his body was never found.
