A man has been arrested in northern Mexico on charges of beating his three children to death in retaliation for his mother, authorities said Sunday.
The Attorney General’s Office in the state of Sonora said Sunday that the victims were 3, 7 and 8 years old. The killings took place on January 2 in the state of Hidalgo, central Mexico.
The detainee had called his father to tell him what he had done and he reported it to Hidalgo authorities, prosecutors said in a statement.
The subject had fled to Sonora, where he was arrested and returned to Hidalgo because of the charges.
The prosecution said the man had an argument with the minors’ mother and killed them “to cause her great harm.”
“By appearing in revenge against his wife, he deprived his children of life,” according to the prosecution.
