ORLANDO, Fla. – Orlando police say they have the man responsible for a rabies shooting in East Orlando, as well as a “disturbing” gun crime that first appeared on social media.

Police said the second crime with “disturbing” weapons initially appeared on social media, specifically on Instagram, on March 31st.
Detective Michael Glatthorn said he received a video (seen above) showing Polite leaning out of the car window, pointing a gun equipped with a laser sight at a runner. The detective said police were able to determine that the video was shot at 5800 block of Grant Street.
“It took a while to find the runner, but yesterday I was able to locate him,” Glatthorn said. “She is OK. He thought they were just kids playing with a laser pointer. So when I told him, and actually showed him the video — he was surprised. You couldn’t believe it. “
Investigators said they started following Polite on social media and saw him with the same weapon in several other images and videos. Detectives said they were able to determine where he lived and began inspecting him, hoping to catch him with the gun.

“While we were really watching, we saw the violent crime units in the same area,” Glatthorn said. “We contacted them and determined that they were possibly looking for the same guy who posted that video of him pointing the gun at the runner.”
Following his arrest Wednesday, Polite provided police with a full confession of the two crimes, according to detectives.
Polite now faces charges of second-degree murder, shooting from a vehicle, reckless display of a weapon, carrying a concealed weapon, and possession of a weapon by a known offender.
