Man arrested in Miramar Dunkin after a chase by Miami-Dade and Broward

MIRAMAR, Fla. – A man was arrested at a Dunkin ‘store in Miramar after a police chase weaving the streets of Miami-Dade and Broward counties, according to authorities.

Sky 10 was about to chase and Local 10 cameras captured the large police presence at Dunkin ’on 2600 South University Drive in Miramar.

The chase, which police said involved a black Infinity robbery, originated about seven miles northeast of Miami-Dade County and led to Broward. At times, the Infinity was in the opposite lanes of Miami Gardens and there were almost no unsuspecting drivers on other cars on the road.

Miami-Dade police say detectives noticed a vehicle that matches the description of one that was used in robberies in the NE 2nd Avenue and 158th Street area. According to authorities, the driver fled the police.

Eventually, the chase was suspended and Infinity continued.

Then, the cameras of Local 10 News saw the four-door Infiniti circling a mall in Miramar before parking in one place and the driver accidentally left. He then walked into Dunkin ‘Restaurant.

A Dunkin employee told Local 10 News that people looking for officers appeared to be in that store. We passed this information to the police and within minutes, armed officers from Miramar entered the business.

“Officers from the Miramar police department determined that the person involved in the speech [in Dunkin’] he was the same subject who fled from Miami-Dade Police Department detectives, ”he said. Khristopher Welch, of the Miami-Dade police department, said in an email.

He said officers from the Miramar police department arrested the man.

His identity has not yet been released and authorities have not announced any charges.

According to a Dunkin employee, the man bought a sandwich with a $ 100 bill and sat in the donut shop for nearly two hours.

The employee said the man initially dressed in black and wore a hat, but then used another employee’s cell phone and eventually someone came and brought him new clothes.

The employee said the man changed his clothes before trying to leave the business, but police arrested him.

“It’s a little scary because we don’t usually have that much excitement around here,” said Florrie Lopez, who works nearby. “It seems they were in a hurry to park because [the car] it is on a curb and is titled sideways. “

The car was searched and has since been towed. No injuries were reported as a result of the chase.

The Miami-Dade County Police Department is continuing the investigation.
