A man and a woman were shot on Bourbon Street in the early hours of Saturday after two men opened fire on each other, according to New Orleans police.
The shots fired shortly after two in the morning at Block 100 in Bourbon, the NOPD said, and an 18-year-old woman and a 57-year-old man who were in the area were hit by bullets and taken by EMS to a hospital area for treatment.
An NOPD spokesman said Saturday morning that the two were in stable condition and that their injuries were not life-threatening. Victims were not believed to be involved in the plot that precipitated the shooting, but police said the investigation is ongoing and urged anyone with information to contact the Eighth District at (504) 658-6080.
Filming in the French Quarter was second on or near Bourbon Street in less than a week and third in less than a month.
A tourist in Oklahoma’s French Quarter allegedly shot a homeless man during an argument near Bourbon and Governor Nicholls streets on the night of Jan. 18, and then tried to flee with his mother from his hotel before police arrest him, authorities reported.
Austin Narrison, 28, had an aggravated battery, illegal transportation of a weapon and illegal use of weapons after he was accused of shooting the victim with his father’s 25-caliber pistol, wrote the NOPD in the criminal district court records. The victim was shot in the foot. Harrison’s mother had no crime.
In early December 27, a shooting occurred at block 300 of Bourbon Street when a victim trying to break a fight was shot in the leg.
On Saturday afternoon, in Metairie, a man was found dead from a gunshot wound to a car at 3100 block of Houma Boulevard.
The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to a call about a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot behind a business around 12:30 p.m., and found the man in the interior with at least one firearm. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The NOPD reported other incidents on Saturday.
On Friday at 11:21 a.m., a man was cut on his left side after a man he was arguing with threw him with a box cutter at block 3600 on Macarthur Blvd.
As of Friday afternoon, there were three car attacks.
The first was at 4:22 p.m. at Block 900 on Wilson Drive, when a woman was sitting inside her 2018 white Toyota Rav4 when two suspects approached the vehicle. One jumped into the passenger seat, while the other armed with a firearm demanded the victim get out of the vehicle. The suspects fled without further incident.
At 5:24 p.m., two men approached a woman sitting at gas stations in a 2019 blue Infinity QX6 at 1100 block of Franklin Avenue. They were armed with pistols and demanded the woman get out of the vehicle and she complied and they headed west to St. Claude to Elysian Fields.
And at 8:13 p.m., three men approached a 2001 beige Ford Expedition parked at Block 9400 on Hayne Boulevard and demanded ownership of the man and woman inside. They complied and the men quickly marched in the victims’ vehicle east to Hayne.
At around 5:43 p.m., Friday, a man was shot in the 4500 block of Francis Drive and taken to hospital.
Then, at 10:17 p.m., a woman cut off the face of a minor with an unknown object on Treasure Street and Oliver White Avenue during a physical altercation.
On Saturday at 2:02 a.m., a woman had her bag snatched from the 2100 block of Cobblestone Lane. Police later located and arrested Christopher Horton, 49, police said.
In the hours that followed, there were two more stab wounds, police said.
At 4:03 a.m. Saturday, a stabbing occurred at block 10100 of Dwyer Road, although no other details were released. At 4:54 a.m., an unknown assailant approached a woman on Highway 9300 Block of Chef Menteur Highway and stabbed her several times. The suspect fled in an unknown direction and the victim was taken to hospital by EMS.
A hand-to-hand robbery took place on Saturday at 6:10 a.m. on Block 500 on Rampart Street, although the NOPD did not publish any other information.
