Marc Anthony publicly apologized to his fans on Sunday after what he called “a total collapse of the streaming platform” that was to show his virtual concert around the world over the weekend.
Anthony’s “One Night Only” show was promoted worldwide, featuring Daddy Yankee. But later Anthony said the “overwhelming demand” caused a major technological error that prevented the program from continuing.
The singer pledged, “You can be sure I’m doing everything I can to make sure people who spent their hard-earned money have a chance to see the show as soon as possible and will do well to to all of you. ”
The snafu sparked online complaints from disappointed fans and made Anthony a Twitter trend topic when they were unable to access the show.
The concert was scheduled to begin at 8 p.m., Billboard reported, with approximately 100,000 tickets sold. It was to be streamed through Maestro, a platform that previously supported Billie Eilish and Tim McGraw’s 2020 shows. But 90 minutes after the scheduled start time, Anthony posted on social media, “We’re experiencing a delay.”
At 1:30 a.m., the 52-year-old pop star said the show was not running and apologized through social media.
The teacher did not immediately return our request for comment.
Anthony recently participated in a recent InStyle cover story about his ex-wife Jennifer Lopez, telling the story of his work ethic: “She’s the first in the room and the last to leave. The toughest worker I’ve ever met. ” The eyebrow was raised that the piece included quotes from Anthony and another of J. Lo’s exes, Ben Affleck, but not Alex Rodriguez.
Shortly after the article, Lopez and A-Rod confirmed that they had separated, as had been reported exclusively by Page Six a month earlier.
