March Hundreds in Downtown City to Protest Daunte Wright’s Deadly Shooting in Minnesota (NBC10 Philadelphia)

About 200 people march through Philadelphia to protest the deadly police shooting of Daunte Wright in Minnesota.

The crowd gathered at City Hall and then toured downtown Tuesday night. The march was peaceful without any altercations or arrests being reported. Philadelphia police officers followed the crowd to control the situation.

“Daunte Wright could have been any of us,” Joshua Katamba, one of the protesters on NBC10, said. “It could have been you. It could have been me. He deserved to live. It was an unnecessary death and what happened was so unappealable.”

The protest was one of many that have taken place across the country since Wright’s death on Sunday. The 20-year-old African-American man was fatally shot by Officer Kim Potter during a traffic stop at Brooklyn Center, Minnesota.

Both Potter and Brooklyn Center police chief Tim Gannon resigned after posting camera footage of the incident.

Gannon said he believed Potter mistakenly grabbed his gun when he went to get his Taser. You can listen to his body camera video shouting “Taser! Taser!” Here you can find more coverage on shooting, research and reactions nationwide.
