“Saved by the Bell” stars Mario Lopez and Tiffani Thiessen have shown their support for their star Dustin Diamond as he fights cancer.
Lopez, 47, said on Instagram that he contacted Diamond, 44, after learning of his diagnosis on Thursday.
“I connected with Dustin earlier this evening, and while the news of his diagnosis is heartbreaking, we’re sure he’ll get over it,” Lopez stressed with two photos of the co-stars: one from her hit series and one from ‘a 2016 interview.
“Praying for him and his family and for a speedy recovery. God bless them. “
Meanwhile, Thiessen, 46, posted a photo of Diamond in her Instagram story and wrote, “Thinking of You, Dustin.”
The talk of a breakup between Diamond and the cast of “Saved by the Bell” has swirled for years. Diamond’s 2009 book did not paint its co-stars in a positive way and was subsequently absent from a popular 2015 reunion on “The Tonight Show,” as well as the recent restart of the Peacock show.
In 2019, program star Mark-Paul Gosselaar admitted he hadn’t spoken to Diamond in 25 years.
Diamond’s team confirmed his cancer diagnosis days after he was hospitalized for widespread pain and discomfort. Her family has a history of cancer, including her mother, who died of breast cancer.
Dustin’s team did not reveal what type of cancer the star has, although a TMZ report states that it is phase 4 and Diamond is in chemotherapy phase.
