Former co-stars of the latest “Saved By The Bell” actor, Dustin Diamond, remember the actor after his untimely death, including series boss Mark-Paul Gosselaar.
Currently, with the resumption of ABC’s “Mixed-ish” and the resumption of Peacock’s “Saved By The Bell,” Gosselaar, 46, appeared on “Tamron Hall” on Tuesday to share his thoughts on the sudden Dustin’s passing at 44, telling Hall: always hard when someone dies. I think it’s even more so when the individual is someone you know and Dustin’s age. It’s only been a few weeks since we heard of his diagnosis and it happened so quickly it’s shocking. “
Dustin’s team confirmed his cancer diagnosis in mid-January and immediately began chemotherapy for stage 4 small cell carcinoma that had metastasized to his lungs.
“Me and the rest of the cast, we’ll meet at some point and express our feelings, but yes, it happened so fast that we’re all pretty impacted,” Gosselaar added.
Save for Diamond, all members of the main cast of “SBTB” returned to Peacock’s reboot in 2021. Gosselaar went on to explain how, over time, the group gradually separated over the years.
“It’s interesting. A lot of people may not understand that you can work with someone for years; you can be very close, you’ll see that person every day for an entire filming season, and then when the thing is over, the camera s ‘stop, just get away.’ He said. ‘There’s no other reason than the things that happen in life and before you know it, the years have passed and I think that’s what happened to Dustin with the rest of the cast “.
His co-stars Mario Lopez, Tiffani Thiessen and Elizabeth Berkley have shared their own tributes to Diamond.
