While PlayStation 5 officially only comes with standard white with a bit of black centerpiece, that hasn’t stopped people from modifying their new generation consoles after the fact. While there have been many attempts to provide third-party faceplates with varying degrees of legality, the most common customizations seem to simply modify the base model’s white faceplates. For example, a Marvel fan has gone so far as to create a charming custom model with the Iron Man repellent on the side.
More specifically, Reddit user DGR8EST-1987 recently shared his work on the platform, posting photos of progress, from simply painting the thing to adding the repellent itself. Broadly speaking, it looks as if the red-painted front plates have been removed and then an Iron Man repellent night light was added to the surface with some additional details to make it appear as if it were exploding on the side of the thing. As far as it’s worth, modifying PlayStation 5’s faceplates seems relatively straightforward, but be warned that altering this sort of thing usually voids the warranty. In addition, there is always the possibility of irreversibly breaking something in the process. The PlayStation 5 itself is now available with the version that contains a $ 499 disk drive, while the all-digital console costs $ 399, if you can find any in stock.
