The crossover returns after two decades
The first fighting game of the epic showdown between Capcom and SNK was almost unknown and obscure because of their platform of choice, but now everyone will have a chance to see how things started.
SNK announced tonight that SNK vs. Capcom: Match of the Millennium will be released on Nintendo Switch on February 17 worldwide.
The latest member of the NeoGeo Pocket Color Selection manages to pack 26 fighters spread across the iconic lists of both companies.
Fatal Fury, The King of Fighters, Art of Fighting, Samurai Shodown and The Last Blade form the side of SNK stuff plus Athena, while Capcom pulls off the world warriors of Street Fighter and Darkstalkers.
Despite being in development at the same time as Capcom’s first fighting game against SNK, Match of the Millennium is quite different considering it’s based on NeoGeo Pocket Color’s The King of Fighters R series.
This means, of course, that the game uses more xibis and less detailed sprites than its contemporaries, but it’s full of charm and character without sacrificing tight controls.
The new SNK and CAPCOM collaboration title that can fit in your hands is coming to the Nintendo Switch.

While SNK frankly didn’t say otherwise, SNK vs. Capcom will probably not have any online functionality like the other titles in the collection, but a local multiplayer is available.
It’s quite interesting to see the SNK and Capcom logos next to them in a “current” version of the game, although there is little reason to expect anything more on this front at this time, unless they plan to launch SNK vs . Capcom: Card Fighters titles.
Many fans of fighting games would probably be even more excited about one of the arcade / console versions of modern hardware, but the last reissue we saw in this particular series against the series came from across the aisle. with Capcom vs. SNK 2 on the PlayStation 3 as a PS2 Classic.
Match of the Millennium is the sixth game in the NeoGeo Pocket Color Selection. Previous versions are SNK Gals’ Fighters, Samurai Shodown. 2, King of Fighters R-2, The Last Blade: Beyond the Destiny and Fatal Fury First Contact.
All other NeoGeo Pocket Color releases are priced at $ 7.99 USD in the Nintendo e-store, but SNK has yet to reveal a price for this fighting game story.
