Max Verstappen of Red Bull Racing said he is excited to team up with Mexican Sergio Perez, who was signed by the Austrian team in late 2020
Dutch driver Max Verstappen, Sergio Pérez’s teammate at Red Bull Racing, said he was excited to work with the tapatío and revealed that he was excited to take part in the Mexican Grand Prix again after the cancellation of the race in the 2020 campaign because of the COVID-19.
At a press conference, Verstappen, 23, highlighted the arrival of the ‘Czech’ in the Austrian team but preferred not to go into details about what they can achieve with the RB16B, the new Red Bull car.
“I hope Czech does a good job as he has done in his Formula 1 career. I am excited to work with him and I hope we can bring him a lot of points on the team, ”he expressed.
And he added: “We use it in demo mode, so it will never feel the same as when it’s the real moment. I don’t usually base many of my discoveries on that moment. You just take out the act and run a few laps and it doesn’t go away. “I think we will have to wait for what happens in Bahrain with the right tires.”
Regarding the running of the Mexican Grand Prix in the ‘Czech’ band, Max noted that it will be special and indicated that he has fond memories of the race held in Aztec territory, but he has assured that he is focused on the start of the season.
“Right now I’m thinking about the first race, I’m excited and by the time we go there, this race will be exciting. Of course I’m thinking about Mexico, I’ve had good races here and it’s very nice to be there. It’s very good. see the passion of the fans and I hope we can make the whole calendar, ”he stated.
The Dutchman spoke about what the Czech can give the team in terms of development, as he highlighted the knowledge that his teammate may have after working for several years with the Racing Point team and having close contact with the Mercedes Power Unit.
“He can convey his findings and differences to the team. So of course I hope he can help the team or at least give us other ideas for some things,” he mentioned.
Asked about his relationship with Perez off the court, Max said they have always maintained a good relationship.
“Anyway, I’ve always gotten along very well with Czech. So it’s a very relaxed and good relationship.”
