Mayoress de Loíza clarifies comments on sexist attitudes in the PPD

The mayoress of Loíza, Julia Nazario Fonts, Clarified today, Friday, his comments that the People’s Democratic Party was a sexist community and has expressed that it is a problem of both his party and the New Progressive Party (PNP).

In an interview with this medium, the municipal executive abounded in that his expressions had to be taken in a general plan and not as a direct message to the PPD leadership.

“Both the PPD and the PNP are sexist parties, they are,” Nazario Fonts expressed and in turn said this is due to the fact that in the Country he is a generally sexist.

Her initial expressions emerged yesterday when she was approached by a media outlet over who should chair the PPD. She expressed that she had to be the mayor of Morovis, Carmen Maldonado, but that she could receive sexist attitudes from some in the party.

Maldonado, who is also the vice president of the community, resigned yesterday from chairing the PPD, leaving José Luis Dalmau Santiago as the only candidate at the time.

Nazario Fonts also clarified that his comments were directed at the order that was being carried out, given that if a vacancy arises in the presidency, then the position should pass to his successor, in this case Maldonado .

Prior to the PPD Governing Board meeting, several popular leaders argued that the collectivity could not be sexist because the first female governor belonged to that party. Other popular leaders were then listed as additional examples.

When asked for a reaction to this, the mayoress expressed that naming these people is not enough.

“Masculinity has nothing to do with how many we are. It has to do with where we stand and how we are treated when we arrived. I came for work,” he pointed out.
