If you ask the question, “Which car manufacturer makes the best cars?” you are opening a large messy worm can. What defines best? Is it speed? Build quality? Comfort? And who can decide which is better: car fans, football moms or algorithms? Well, after some rigorous testing, Consumer reports he thinks he has the answer: Mazda.

While not infallible, CR has a fairly decent reputation for impartial and in-depth testing. Not just one of the critics says the car is good. The score given to each brand reflects four different factors:

  • The CR road test that analyzes more than 50 different areas of performance.
  • Reliability forecast based on problems identified in 17 different areas.
  • Owner satisfaction depending on which CR members say.
  • Security rules: You will get more points if you have proven security features all clippings, not just high-end ones.

For this analysis, CR also examined how many green options the automaker provides, which served as a small bonus.

And after all this, Mazda was ranked number one, assuming the title of best car manufacturer Porsche. These are the top five:

  1. Mazda
  2. BMW
  3. Subaru
  4. Porsche
  5. Honda

I don’t know about you guys, but I was very surprised to see BMW’s range so high: it jumped sis places from 2020 to 2021 to get second place.

And, yeah, I can’t let you go without pointing the worse. In this list, number one represents the worst car in CR analysis:

  1. Alfa Romeo
  2. Land Rover
  3. Mitsubishi
  4. Jeep
  5. Lincoln

I was also very fascinated by the fact that Genesis was the most important engine of all this debacle, as it lost 13 spaces between 2020 and 2021 to finish 15th. The road test scores for the Genesis machines were excellent, but this time it really suffered in the reliability department.

If you would like more information on how the ranking was done, you should go to Consumer reports.
