French player Kylian Mbappé thanked Thomas Tuchel for his work at PSG through a story on Instagram and has said that “it’s the law of football”, although this will not prevent him from remembering his time at the Parisian club.
“Unfortunately, this is the law of football. But no one will forget your step here. You wrote a good chapter in club history, thank you coach“, Mbappé said through his official Instagram account, confirming a news that French media have advanced, but that has not yet been confirmed by the club itself.
According to the newspaper L’Equipe, Tuchel was fired after last Wednesday’s victory against Strasbourg (4-0), six months before the end of his contract. The French club is already negotiating with Argentine Mauricio Pochettino, Formerly of Espanyol and Tottenham, to occupy the bench.
Pochettino, who was a PSG player between 2001 and 2003, is familiar with the French league also for his time at Girondins de Bordeaux. His arrival would end the period of Tuchel, who started his journey with Paris Saint-Germain in June 2018.
The German is saying goodbye having won two league titles, as well as the 2020 French Cup and the French League Cup. He also led the PSG to the Champions League final for the first time in their history, which they lost 1-0 to Bayern Munich in August.
This season, PSG are third in Ligue 1, one point behind Lille and Olympique de Lyon after 17 games. They have also reached the round of 16 of the ‘Champions League’, where they face FC Barcelona.
