President Nayib Bukele did announce on November 25 that there is an agreement for El Salvador to receive 2 million doses of the vaccine developed by the British-Swedish pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca, once it goes through studies to confirm that it works well.
Health Minister Francisco Alabi himself also confirmed in November that vaccination with AstraZeneca would begin in the first quarter of 2021, and has also not provided information on Pfizer.
The Colmedes leader externalized that they see it as a positive thing to start vaccinating, although he clarified that due to the Government’s own secrecy, they do not know in depth what the process will be like, or who will be vaccinated first.
“We hope it has nothing to do with political influences. I hope the first-line health professional is vaccinated first and then goes with people with risk factors,” he said.
