Newly graduated medical students who have taken the MIR exam this year, which allows access to a position as a doctor specializing in training in the National Health System in Spain, require the administration to be able to choose a place in person. .
The problem has been dragging on since last year when opponents of the ESF (Specialized Health Training) had to appeal to the Supreme Court of Justice to give them the reason about the right to choose a place in person, with all guarantees. However, this year the Government has decided to change the law so that the whole process is telematic.
In addition, the students themselves do not oppose the online election, but claim that when they choose the desired places they do so with all the guarantees that allows the election in person. This election is held in an official ceremony where both opponents and authorities of the Ministry of Health, verify the election of the graduate.
In the same vein, opponents claim that they do not understand this change in legislation. In addition, this is a somewhat incoherent situation, due to the fact that the government justifies the choice of places electronically due to the situation of health crisis in the country. However, these official events can be held following the health recommendations, given the upcoming elections to be held in Madrid on May 4, 2021, is it not possible then that the future of our health system has the same guarantees?
On the other hand, students also consider that the website where such operations are performed, is an archaic and inefficient computer system where problems accumulate at every step. In addition, the choice of the future of a doctor in our country may be subject to a computer problem that prevents him from developing his professional career forever.
Considering that this MIR test is held annually, and that around 15,000 aspirants are presented, the future doctors of our health system, an international reference, have created a petition on the change.org platform, with the aim of resolve this situation so that they can decide their professional future with all the guarantees.
