Greene has sparked controversy during his candidacy, but also the week after a video appeared showing his mocking David Hogg, a survivor of the 2018 shooting in Parkland, Florida, in which he called him a “coward.” He also faced increased scrutiny last week after 2018 and 2019 online publications showed support for the execution of prominent Democrats, including the president. Assistant to the minority leader of the House Kevin McCarthy (R-California) called Greene’s comments “deeply disturbing” and said the leader will speak to her this week.
Some Democrats have called for Greene’s removal from Congress.
Rep. Cori Bush (D-Mo) said she moved her office to Capitol Hill to be further away from Greene, and said she fears for her safety, after accusing Greene and her staff of denying her on a corridor.
