Meijer stores are starting COVID vaccines at some pharmacies in Wayne County

COUNT OF WAYNE, Mich. – Meijer stores have begun vaccinating people at some of their Wayne County pharmacies.

Michigan state officials chose the supercenter chain as a vaccination partner to help achieve their goal of delivering 50,000 shots each day.

Meijer has 120 pharmacies in stores across Michigan, but they are doing vaccination clinics and don’t advertise them in advance.

Residents went to the Meijer store in Allen Park on Thursday to get the vaccine.

Meijer is described as what the federal government calls a federal retail pharmacy. The state provides the vaccine weekly and Meijer has vaccination clinics in Taylor, Westland, Livonia and Allen Park.

The current target is those who are 65 or older.
