Hollywood, Fla. – As the Corona virus vaccination campaign began in the United States on Monday, FedEx delivered the first shipment of the Pfizer-Bioendech vaccine to leading health workers at the Memorial Health System in Broward County.
The first 19,500 doses of the vaccine were packed in dry ice at minus 70 degrees Celsius. Memory health workers carefully unwrapped the boxes and slowly placed the vaccines in several specialized freezers.
Hours after the delivery, nurse Monica Puka, an advanced registered nurse practitioner and vice president of public health at Memorial Health, held a syringe in front of reporters at Memorial’s new Corona virus vaccination center in Miramar.
Dr. Paula Accord, an infectious disease specialist at Memorial Health, took off her white coat. He sat in front of Puka, took a deep breath, and made history as part of the first group of leading workers to be vaccinated against COVID-19 at the new center.
Vaccinations at the New Memorial Health Vaccine Center began after a 2 p.m. news conference. Aurelio M., CEO of Memorial Healthcare System. Fernandez said he expects to use about 7,000 vaccines and distribute the remaining 12,500 to five hospitals in Browth County.
“I get 50% participation,” Fernandez said of the number of leading workers at Memorial Health, which he expects to be vaccinated.
Hospital staff can schedule their appointments from 9am to 9pm using MyCard. After the first dose, the second dose should be administered within 21 days.
The Florida Department of Health in Broward County also sent out the first dose of the vaccine Monday. Memorial Health is one of the five organizations that regularly receive vaccines in Florida.
The Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami-Tate County will receive the first dose of the Pfizer-Bioentech vaccine on Tuesday. The second dose is now three weeks away.
Gov. Ron Desantis said health workers, long-term care facility residents and other leading workers will prioritize vaccinations. He said Florida is also in line to get vaccinated by Moderna and the National Institutes of Health after being approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
Sandra Lindsay, a leading care nurse at the Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New York, became the first person to receive the first vaccine in the United States on Monday morning.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has warned people with severe allergic reactions to any of the Pfizer-Bioentech vaccine to talk to their doctors about the risks. The specific creation is secret, but there is no list of ingredients.
