Nintendo fell some new ones Metroid Dread info this morning, with a video detailing the different skills of the heroine of the Samus Aran franchise at the table of the upcoming Switch game when it launches on October 8th. seen for years, he makes his glorious return.
Kraid first entered the scene in 1986 as one of the various bosses in the original Metroid, who appears as a small, pointed guy, barely bigger than Samus herself. Kraid was overshadowed by Ridley, the space dragon who would become the bounty hunter’s main rival. Kraid received major changes for the 1994s Super Metroid and in 2004 Mission Zero redo before quietly disappearing from the series.
According to former Retro Studios artist Gene Kohler, there were plans to introduce Kraid in 2002 Metroid Prime as a battle chief at the same time as Meta Ridley, a resurrected version by the space pirate of Samus’ eternal enemy who acts as the game’s penultimate antagonist. The work never surpassed modeling or skinning. Unfortunately, all of Kraid’s resources were removed from the game prior to the release, but Kohler was kind enough to provide a picture of the first major model during the aforementioned interview.
Another former Retro employee, Greg Luzniak, shared conceptual art in 2015 of how a possible battle with Kraid would have been if he had survived Metroid Primelaunch.
But back to Metroid Dread. The last trailer shows Samus tripping over Kraid in a sort of containment chamber. He throws himself at her, but fails to do so due to her restrictions. Later, Samus is shown climbing into Kraid’s face for his personal and close reunion.
Another important one Metroid Dread it seems that an enemy is one of the Chozo, a race of technologically advanced, bird-like people, who raised Samus after his colony was destroyed by Ridley when she was a child. While Kraid is a rare thing in the Metroid series, the Chozo are virtually extinct, their ancient great civilization reduced to ruins.
G / O Media may receive a commission
Metroid Dread it’s the first time Chozo has actually appeared throughout the franchise decades ago, which would be a big deal for Samus if he wasn’t immediately attacked by the armored figure and left without his unique skills.
Nintendo keeps the details of the story close to the chest, so we’ll have to wait a little longer to learn more about this mysterious Chozo.
