The first significant sign has arrived that this is a new era of Mets baseball.
The team is closing negotiations with the Indians to acquire star champion Francisco Lindor and starting pitcher Carlos Carrasco, Joel Sherman of The Post confirmed.
The shorts by Andres Gimenez and Amed Rosario, along with off-field future Isaiah Greene and pitcher Josh Wolf will head to Cleveland.
Lindor, 27, is in line to be a free agent after this season and for a long time it was believed that Cleveland would hand out the superstar.
The four-time All-Star would mean a significant upgrade on the left side of the Mets field and would be the first major move of the Steve Cohen era.
Carrasco, 33, missed the end of the 2019 season while battling leukemia. He thrived in the reduced 2020 season, posting an ERA of 2.91 and 82 stops in 68 innings in more than 12 outings and was the player of the year back.
