The Mets acquired right-handed Jordan Yamamoto from the Marlins on Monday in exchange for Dominican prospect fielder Federico Polanco.
Yamamoto, 24, had a 4-5 record with 4.46 ERA and 82 strikeouts in 15 openings for Pisces in 2019. The right-hander was third in the Majors in controlling his opponents by an average of .191 and 6.18 hits for every nine innings below Justin Verlander (172, 5.53) and Gerrit Cole (186, 6.02).
In 2020, Yamamoto had a 0-1 record in four appearances (three as an opener) in 11.1 innings. In his two-year career in the Major Leagues, he holds a 4-6 record and has conceded 81 hits in 90 episodes.
Polanco, 19, carries an average of 244 with 20 doubles and 50 drives in two minor league seasons.
