Mexico on Monday authorized the return to face-to-face classes for the 2020-2021 cycle in states that are at low-risk traffic lights, but reiterated that this return will be mixed, that is, virtual and face-to-face for almost 30.5 millions of students.
Federal Secretary of Education Esteban Moctezuma explained that face-to-face classes can be resumed in the states of Campeche and Chiapas, entities that are at the green light, ie at low epidemiological risk, although it will be necessary to maintain protocols in this regard.
He detailed that in schools that restart classes in the face-to-face mode, three co-responsibility filters will be established: home, school, classroom.
Besides, access to soap and water will be guaranteed; and covid-19 will be considered a job risk for teachers.
Also, he said, the general use of handcrafted mouthguards or handkerchiefs, healthy distance at entrances and exits, stepped return, assigned fixed places, and alternate attendance by surname will be requested.
In the same way, any kind of ceremonies will be suspended. “There will be a system of early detection and socio – emotional care for teachers and students. That will change until the General Health Council determines. “
He noted that the President of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, offered the states at a green light that will be vaccinated to teachers who return to work.
Similarly, he announced that there will be a reinforcement of learning.
Sunday night, the Secretariat of Public Education (SEP) had advanced the decision to strengthen the “Learn at Home” program with systematic feedback from the exercise of the students.
This program, reaffirmed the dependence, will continue with the support of national television channels, public and private, to continue with this fabric, “Because you can’t just go for one channel, but have different schedules and cover as much area as possible.”
In this regard, Moctezuma stressed that there will be two weeks of reinforcement of the expected learning. “The teachers asked us to publish the contents in advance, then in advance we will have the contents on the official page” of the program.
Mexico currently has more than 1.5 million cases and 133,706 deaths, and has recorded record numbers of infections and deaths in recent weeks.
