After their divorce, celebrated in the year 2000, the ex-partner agreed that they would divide their stays in the property, she would occupy it during six months and he during the remaining six months.
“It was very uncomfortable to share the property with my ex-wife, Diandra. Six months for each of us was not very pleasant for anyone. Now everything is settled. The house is 100% ours, Catherine’s and mine.” Michael Douglas confessed in an interview with the Spanish newspaper Última Hora.
In this way they were working for 21 years, but the first actor was not entirely convinced by the treatment they reached, as he was not giving his place to his current partner, who is not she felt comfortable every time she had to visit the residence.
“Catherine is very happy here, especially now that we don’t share with Diandra. She feels much more comfortable,” the ‘Wall Street’ protagonist was sincere in dialogue with the same medium.
The mansion, which was commissioned to be built in 1867 by Archduke Louis Savior of Austria, was purchased by Michael and Diandra in 1989 after disbursement. $ 4.5 million.
Since then, the ex-partner has made several improvements and extensions, which has caused its price to rise dramatically over the years.
In 2015, the producer also put it up for sale for $ 62 million, then drastically relaxed his claims and went so far as to ask for up to $ 32,500,000, but still failed to win over potential investors.
After several failed attempts to sell, Michael decided to take it off the market last May, and focused on buying the part that belonged to his ex.
The property, located in the town of Valldemossa, currently has seven independent buildings spread over 190 acres of land and 10,700 square feet of construction.
