Michael Schumacher’s wife updates her status on the Netflix documentary

Michael Schumacher’s wife, Corinna, has offered a rare update on being a seven-time world champion in an upcoming Netflix documentary, saying it’s “different, but it’s here.”

Schumacher suffered a serious brain injury in a ski accident in December 2013 and has not been seen in public since. The family has kept up to date at least while rehabilitation continues at their home in Switzerland.

In a documentary to be presented Sept. 15, Corinna Schumacher said privacy is what her husband would always have wanted.

“Michael is here. Different, but he’s here, and that gives us strength, I think,” he said.

“We’re together. We live together at home. We do therapy. We do everything we can to improve Michael and make sure he’s comfortable. And just to make him feel like our family, our bond.

“And no matter what happens, I’ll do everything I can. We’ll all do it. We try to continue as a family, just as Michael liked it and he still does. And we move on with our lives.

“The private is private,” as he always said. It is very important to me that you can continue to enjoy your private life as much as possible. “Michael always protected us and now we are protecting Michael.”

Michael and Corinna’s son Mick is in his first Formula 1 season with the Haas team.

Michael Schumacher remains one of the greatest drivers in F1. He won two championships for Benneton in 1994 and 1995 and then five in a row for Ferrari between 2000 and 2004.

After retiring once in 2006, he returned for a second stage of F1 with Mercedes between 2010 and 2012.

His 91 career victories are the second best of all time, and he is tied in seven championships with Lewis Hamilton.
