Former First Lady Michelle Obama says she hopes friends Meghan Markle and Prince Harry can reconcile with the British royal family after the couple’s TV interview last week.
“My hope is that when I think about what they are going through, I think about the importance of family and I just pray that there is forgiveness, that there is clarity, love and resolution at some point in time,” Obama said. Access Hollywood “in a report Monday.
“Because there’s nothing more important than family,” Obama said.
Markle and the prince shook the palace when they told interviewer Oprah Winfrey that a king was expressing “concerns” about the darkness of his son Archie’s skin, given that the duchess is biracial.
The couple also enjoyed everyone, from sister-in-law Kate Middleton – whom Markle once said made her cry – to Harry’s father, Prince Charles.
Obama has long been a supporter of Markle, and called her “my friend” and “a thoughtful leader” in an Instagram post in 2019.
