The number of confirmed cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) in Michigan has risen to 624,811 since Saturday, including 15,897 deaths, state officials report.
Saturday’s update includes a total of 2,660 new cases of COVID-19 and 47 additional deaths. The deaths announced Saturday include 39 deaths identified during a Vital Records review, meaning they did not occur on either Friday or Saturday.
On Friday, the state reported a total of 622,151 cases and an additional 15,850 deaths.
As of Saturday, a total of 562,775 have recovered from COVID-19 in Michigan.
Tests have been constant at around 35,000 reported diagnostic tests per day on average, with a positive rate of 7 days above 6% as of Thursday. The state has reported a slight rise in hospitalizations over the past three weeks.

Michigan’s 7-day moving average for daily cases was 2,149 on Thursday, the highest since early January. The average seven-day death toll was 16 on Thursday and has been flat for several weeks. The state mortality rate is 2.6%. The state also reports “active cases,” which were recorded on Thursday at 45,900, almost the lowest since October.
Michigan has reported more than that 3.3 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine administered, as of Wednesday, with 25.6% of residents receiving at least one dose.
According to Johns Hopkins University, more than 29.7 million cases have been reported in the US., with more than 541,000 dead reported by the virus.
