Michigan reports 6,093 new cases of COVID, 29 deaths – an average of 2,031 cases a day

DETROIT – Michigan reported 6,093 new cases of COVID-19 and 29 virus-related deaths on Monday, an average of 2,031 cases over the past three days.

Monday’s update brings the total number of confirmed COVID cases in Michigan to 976,505, including 20,535 deaths. These figures exceed 970,412 cases and 20,506 deaths as of Friday.

The deaths announced Monday include nine identified during a Vital Records review.

Tests have increased to approximately 20,000 reported diagnostic tests per day on average, with the Positive rate of 7 days at 10.3% on Friday, slightly higher than the previous week. The positive percentage of tests has been steadily increasing since the end of June, when it was at a minimum. Hospitalizations have steadily increased for several weeks.

Cases are on the rise again in Michigan. The state’s 7-day moving average for daily cases was 2,304 on Monday, a significant jump since early July. The average seven-day death toll was Monday at 19. The state’s mortality rate is 2.1%. The state also reports “active cases,” which were ranked Monday at 61,500.

Michigan has reported more than that 9.7 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine administered as of Friday, with 66.4% of more than 16 residents have received at least one dose while 57.9% of more than 16 residents they are considered completely vaccinated.

According to Johns Hopkins University, more than 40.9 million cases have been reported in the US, with more than 659,900 dead informed of the virus. Globally, more than 3.5 billion doses of vaccine have been administered, including more than 370 million doses in the US alone.

All over the world, more than 224 million infected people have been confirmed and more than 4.6 million have died, according to Johns Hopkins University. The actual figures are certainly much higher, due to limited evidence, of different ways in which nations count the dead, and the deliberate under-reporting of some governments.
