There were 6,604 confirmed cases of coronavirus, a three-day average of 3,302 and 44 confirmed deaths from COVID-19 reported on Tuesday and Wednesday, September 15th.
Of the new deaths, 41 were identified in a review of death certificates, done three times a week, and the case count represents new referrals of confirmed cases to the Michigan Disease Surveillance System since the last web update of Monday, September 13th.
Michigan has an average of 2,684 confirmed cases and 19 confirmed deaths a day over the past week, according to the Department of Health and Human Services.
This exceeds the seven-day average of 1,8881 new cases recorded on September 8, when there was also an average of 19 deaths.
Since the start of the pandemic, 983,109 cases of coronavirus and 20,597 confirmed deaths have been reported. In addition, the state has reported 119,848 probable cases and 1,323 probable deaths, in which a doctor and / or antigen test was dictated by COVID-19, but no confirmatory PCR test was performed to detect the presence. of a virus.

Of Michigan’s 83 counties, only Schoolcraft County on the Upper Peninsula reported no new cases.
Berrien County, southwestern Michigan, recorded the most new cases per 100,000 people with 173. It was followed by Mecosta County, north of Grand Rapids, with 146, Oceana County, north of Muskegon, with 143, St. Louis County. Joseph with 140 and the county of Algiers in the UP with 136. Van Buren (135), Marquette (130), Cass (128), Isabella (121) and Delta (119) completed the top 10.
Unadjusted by population, Wayne County led 781 new cases. At the end are Kent (626), Oakland (596), Macomb (459), Ottawa (284), Berrien (267), Kalamazoo (215), Saginaw (189), Genesee (171) and Monroe (142).
Twenty-eight counties reported at least one death. Wayne County had 11. Macomb and Oakland counties reported five each. In Saginaw and St. Louis counties. Clair, there were four. Berrien, Cass, Ingham, Kalamazoo and Lapeer counties reported three. Delta, Kent and Lenawee counties had two. Deaths were reported in each of the following counties: Branch, Cheboygan, Genesee, Grand Traverse, Hillsdale, Houghton, Ionia, Jackson, Manistee, Montcalm, Muskegon, Oceana, Osceola, Shiawassee, and St. Louis. Joseph.
As of Tuesday, the number of eligible residents who have received at least a single dose of COVID-19 vaccine increased to 61.2%. To see vaccination rates by county, see the chart below. Leelanau, Oakland, Grand Traverse, Washtenaw and Emmet counties have each exceeded 70%. Osceola County, Detroit, Hillsdale County and Cass County have had the lowest vaccination rates. As of Wednesday, Sept. 15, hospitals across the state were treating 1,535 patients with confirmed or suspected cases of COVID-19, with 405 patients in the ICU. Of those hospitalized, 26 are children. The figures are up from September 8, when hospitals treated 1,415 patients and 383 in the ICU.
Of the 38,682 diagnostic tests processed on Tuesday, September 14, 8.9% tested positive for SARS-CoV-2. The seven-day average is now 9.4%. It was 9.1% on September 8th.

The average of seven days of reported deaths in Michigan is 19. It’s the same as a week ago, September 8 (this average is based on the date reported by MDHHS, not the actual date of death). Deaths fell in June and July, but began to rise in August. The most recent peak was on September 1, when there was an average of 22 deaths.
