(WXYZ) – Michigan reported 7,341 new cases of COVID-19 and 254 deaths in a three-day period, the state confirmed Saturday.
The state’s Department of Health and Human Services coronavirus update on Saturday is a total of three days, including Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Officials say that during the three days: Thursday, Friday and Saturday, the average number of new confirmed cases is 2,447 a day.
In addition, the deaths announced Saturday include 188 deaths identified during a Vital Records review, according to the state.
The total confirmed cases of COVID-19 reached 477,269, while the total mortality reached 12,029 in the state. Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s ban on eating in an indoor restaurant remains in effect until Jan. 15.
As of Dec. 23, a cumulative total of 318,389 people had recovered from the virus in Michigan.
