WEST BLOOMFIELD, jo. – Monday is a great day for Michigan restaurants; after almost three months, restaurants can reopen for dinner indoors.
However, they can only have 25% capacity and will have a curfew at 10 p.m.

It is a day that Michiganders waited patiently and not so patiently for the return of the dining rooms in person.
“We’ve been preparing all week for this and we hope we’re going in a direction that works for us,” said Hanna Carter, manager of Pickles & Rye Deli in West Bloomfield.
Restaurants can only open up to 25% of capacity, but Carter said it wouldn’t be a problem.
“We’re a little well-distributed with all the other stands,” Carter said. “And we have all our tables ready.”

However, Stage Deli owner Steve Goldberg said the crew will wait a little longer before reopening the dining room doors.
“The dining room of a Jewish charcuterie is a little more than food. It’s about energy, it’s about spirit. It’s about camaraderie, it’s about neighbors, “said Goldberg. “And with 25% occupancy and necessary masks on the table, it’s very difficult to get that energy.”
Still, the restaurant will continue to run and stop services until they are really ready for more information on a shocking return to normalcy.
“As things get easier, we’ll revisit and open when appropriate,” Goldberg said.
Not only will customers be ready to eat at the table again, but so will the employees.
“We’ve been training our staff,” Carter said. “Viouslybviament we had to go smaller, but now we’ve been able to get in touch with each other and we’ve certainly had more people joining our team.”
