Artist Milly Quezada clarified that she did not receive money from the Social Policy Office to hold Christmas parties in December last year 2020.
Through her representative, Pedrito Núñez, the outstanding meringue performer stated that she was contacted by the Cabinet of Social Policies, but she made it a condition to receive the money by contract when she made artistic presentations.
He explained that as there was no contract or presentations, Quezada never received the money given by the government to other artists as a way to help them deal with the crisis generated by the covid-19 pandemic.
The clarification is due to the fact that the name of the popular meringue has been spread by mistake along with other colleagues who did benefit from the initiative.
It is recalled that yesterday Monday, The Directorate General of Public Procurement (DGCP) suggested identifying and sanctioning officials responsible for executing the hiring of 54 artists by the Cabinet of Social Policies.
Procurement said that due process of administration was not complied with, in violation of various principles of Law 340-06 on Procurement and Public Procurement.
The Social Policy Cabinet hired 54 artists for a sum of 55,600,000 pesos, which were paid, based on breaches of public procurement rules.
