Minors suffer serious stab wounds in alterations in the center of Santa Barbara Local news

A teenager was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries Wednesday night after being stabbed during an alleged gang-related fight in downtown Santa Barbara, according to police.

A group of four minors were walking around Anapamu and Bath streets as a second group of young people and young adults approached, and a fight broke out, according to Anthony Wagner, a spokesman for the Santa Barbara police department.

A teenager was stabbed and the rest of the people left the area, Wagner said.

The stabbed victim headed for De la Vina Street and collapsed and police and AMR medical officers responded to the scene around 5:45 p.m., Wagner said.

The victim was taken to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital and her medical condition was unknown Thursday, Wagner said.

No arrests had been made since Thursday afternoon and the investigation was continuing.

Police ask anyone with information about the stabbing to contact the department at 805.897.2465.
