The incident, which occurred about two weeks before Petito disappeared, began when a witness called 911 for “possible domestic violence” near Moonflower Community Cooperative and said he saw Petito and Laundrie arguing over the phone.

Laundrie stayed at a hotel that night, while Petito stayed with the van, according to the report.
“No one reported that the male hit the female,” the report said. “Both the male and the female reported that they are in love and committed to getting married and that they desperately did not want to see anyone charged with a crime.”

Petito’s last known location was on August 25 in Grand Teton National Park.
Laundrie drove the van to North Port, Florida, on Sept. 1, and the van was recovered at her family’s home on Sept. 10.
The North Port police department named him Wednesday as a person of interest in the investigation and said he did not cooperate with authorities.
