The Dominican has played for organizations such as Cardinals de San Luis and Angelino de Anaheim and at the moment, is the oldest active player as his 41-year-old is about to play his 21st campaign.
This Monday, February 22, it was announced that Albert Pujols has declared that he will retire as a professional player at the end of the upcoming MLB campaign. Deidre Pujols, wife of the ballplayer, was responsible for reporting this through a post on social media.
Mrs. de Pujols shared a photo of her husband on her official Instagram account (deidrepujolsadventures) and the description reads the words “Today is the first day of the last season of one of the most excellent racing in sports, I’m talking about my husband @albertpujols (…) “.
Albert Pujols ‘will hang the spikes’ after 21 active seasons in MLB since his debut with the San Luis Cardinals in the distant 2001. He is currently part of Angelino de Anaheim, who apparently will be the last team in his career.
