According to Mark Feinsand of MLB.com, the 28-year-old Japanese serpentinero has reached an agreement for two years and a value between US $ 6-7 million with the Rangers.

Texas had a combined effectiveness of 5.32 among its opening pitchers in 2020; the seventh worst in the Majors. The team switched on December 8 to their best serpentine, Lance Lynn, in the White Sox.

The MLB and Japan Professional League betting system gives 30 days to the 30 Major League teams to negotiate with the 28-year-old opener, who has spent his entire career in his country’s league, with the Hokkaido Nippon – Ham Fighters.

If Arihara decides to sign with a Major League team, that set will have to pay a sum to the Fighters. If no agreement is reached, it will remain in Japan and will not be able to enter the spawning system until the next season break.

Arihara had an effectiveness of 3.46 in 20 games with the Fighters in 2020, recording 106 strikeouts in 132.2 innings. It sold out 161 rivals in 164.1 episodes in 2019, when it left an average of 2.46 net runs in 24 innings.

Arihara has four- and two-seam straps in her repertoire, according to Sports Info Solutions scout reports. Both reach the low of 90 mph, while their pitching to punch is the splitter. In addition, it has the slider, shift and curve, using the latter mainly in front of left-handers.

The Parents, Red Sox and Rangers had been reported to be the finalists for Arihara, according to the San Diego Union Tribune and Japanese media.
