Money leaves $ 10,000 tip to Florida restaurant workers

A dinner at a North Florida restaurant brought together ten-person staff to thank them for their hard work before leaving them with a $ 10,000 tip to share

It happened last Tuesday night when the man, his wife and son finished dinner at the Wahoo Seafood Grill, Gainesville Sun reported.

Shawn Shepherd, owner of Wahoo, told the newspaper that he received a call from his employees that night, warning him of the big advice. His first thought was suspicion.

“Check your ID and name on the back of the credit card,” Shepherd warned the employee he called.

But the restaurant’s point-of-sale system approved the transaction. Shepherd said he returned the next day to check if the money was still there.

He said he is very grateful to the diner because his employees have been loyal to the restaurant through the pandemic.

Among those who benefited from the great advice was Ashley Green, who was called to work that day. She had recently suffered a difficult time because her daughter was ill.

“It’s been a hard month, he hasn’t been able to work. The boy has been in and out of the hospital. It’s been a really stressful time for her, ”Shepherd said.

“I didn’t know anything about the sidewalk, I didn’t know anything about the delivery and the withdrawal. We were not prepared for that. We didn’t even have the containers to do it, “said Shepherd

He noted that the Florida Restaurant Accommodation Association and the Alachua County Chamber of Commerce were very helpful as they found emergency funding to pay employees. He reopened the Wahoo in May.

He said he is indebted to his employees because they have helped keep the restaurant afloat during difficult times.
