Monroe, NC – Lisa Strawn has a lot of questions after saying she and her husband walked into Walgreens on Finro Street in Monroe on March 20 and got what they thought was the Pfizer vaccine.
“Around 5:30 they called us and told us we had to come back the next day that there had been confusion with our shot,” he said. “You wonder how this can happen?”
Strawn was told that the pharmacist had forgotten to mix the vaccine and that they had only gotten a saline vaccine.
“My question was,‘ What if we’d gotten the Pfizer straight, you know, without it diluting? “And I never got an answer from it,” he said.
It is still unclear how many people have received the wrong injection.
“There were several people they had to call because there was like a big pile of papers,” Strawn said. “And I asked the guy, I said,‘ How did you find out we only had saline? “”
Strawn said the employee he spoke to said there was too much vaccine left over at the end of the day, and that’s when they realized something was wrong.
In a statement, Walgreens said it contacted the affected people and rescheduled their dose, adding: “We are investigating what happened and have taken immediate action to review our procedures with the location to avoid to be repeated “.
“I just thought it was important for people to know, just be careful,” Strawn said. “You know, check them out from behind.”
