More than 190,000 Home Depot ceiling fans were recalled due to reports that the leaves flew and hit people

Ceiling fans sold by Home Depot are being recovered due to the possibility of the leaves coming off during use and causing injury, CBS reports.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission issued a notice of withdrawal of the 54-inch Mara Indoor / Outdoor fans from Hampton Bay, produced by Florida manufacturer King of Fans. Prior to the withdrawal, 47 reports were made of the leaves that came off this model. In two incidents, the rogue blade hit someone, and in four different incidents, the dislodged blade caused property damage.

The home improvement store, which sold more than 190,000 ceiling fans, was the only retail store for the product now remembered. About 182,000 were sold in the US and an additional 8,800 were sold through Home Depot in Canada.

Fans were available online and in stores from April to October, priced at about $ 150.

The withdrawal notice tells those who purchased the defective fans to avoid additional use and to contact the manufacturer for a free replacement.

“Consumers should immediately stop using the ceiling fans and inspect them following the instructions at www.kingoffans.com/MaraRecall.htm or by visiting the QR code that appears on the removal press release,” says the notice. “If consumers observe the movement of the blades or uneven spaces between the blades and the fan body or the movement of the clip during the inspection, consumers should contact King of Fans immediately for a free replacement ceiling fan.” .
