Square Enix announced earlier this week that more than 5,000 Final Fantasy XIV players were banned after being caught using or announcing real money in the game.
As you have seen PCGamesN, March 4 from publisher FFXIV Square Enix is revealed via a news message to FFXIV website that 5851 players had been banned for their participation in real or other money trading “prohibited activities“. 5037 players were banned from participating directly in real money trading. Meanwhile, another 814 players were banned from simply announcing the real money trade.
According to Square Enix it is forbidden to use real money in the game for transactions or other activities on the terms of service, which players accept before creating an account. Even advertising or simply trying using real money is bad enough that Square Enix will drop the banhammer. All of these bans passed between February 25 and March 3.
It’s not the first time Square Enix has revealed a massive wave of account bans. In 2019, the publisher banned more than 10,000 players for infractions similar to real money trading.
