Morgan Wallen says he has been working with himself and will have to continue working with himself. He won’t be playing any live shows this summer, he says.
Specifically, referring to the tour dates with Luke Bryan and the festival’s scheduled dates, Wallen says he’s leaning forward: “But it’s important to me personally, if you can, to keep going to these shows: support in country music, “he writes. “Country music is back and that’s beautiful.”
Wallen was to open Bryan’s Proud to Be Right Here tour starting in May and had select festival dates on his calendar.
The thickness of the 27-year-old’s four-slide handwritten note focuses on the answer to his Dangerous: the double album release from January. He talks about his pride in the album and how much he has appreciated the support of his fans during that time.
“Lately I’ve felt a lot of love for so many people that I haven’t been able to meet yet,” he says. “I know my corner hasn’t been the most popular there has been recently, but many of you have done the same.”
Wallen ‘s album debuted at number 1 on the album Billboard 200 and spent 10 unprecedented weeks there. The thickness of the second slide is about gratitude; then he turns to the facts that led to his silence on social media and ultimately why he is getting out of the way.
“I made some mistakes, I’m finding out, + I apologized because I felt really + I’ve been repairing,” he says.
No details are detailed on how Wallen is amended. He refers to being caught with the word N from the camera, which caused his music to be extracted from the radio and streaming playlists and dropped by his booking agent, among other things.
“I wanted to let you know that I’ve been out for a couple of months + I feel like I’ve really worked on myself,” he adds. “I’m proud of the work I’ve done + in so many ways, grateful I had time to do it. I needed that free time.”
Page 3 of Wallen’s handwritten note reveals his plans to do so no tour this summer. He also points out that he is proud of the man he is and that he is becoming while pointing out that he expects the 32-year-old to be different. The note concludes with him sharing that he has returned to Nashville, “returning to the course of things.”
“My story is far from over and seeing everyone again is what I can think of,” the letter concludes. “So you just know you’ll see me later than later.”
His note does not directly mention several billboards placed around Nashville that have been paid for by fans who call him his Cheer of the Year. Taste of Country has learned that the signs will remain suspended for a week and that its fans are expected to continue their protest during the ACM awards.
