Mortal Kombat will have its cinematic universe

This year we finally saw the resumption of one of the most anticipated video game film adaptations of recent times, Mortal Kombat, and since Warner Bros. Pictures is already considering the possibility of turning this series into its own film universe as pointed out from the Variety portal.

While the film released last April did not receive good reception from critics, it did break records at the post-pandemic box office, in addition to the most fanatical enjoyed one of the most entertaining tapes of the year. But Mortal Kombat ended with an open story, which would leave room for a sequel or many spin-offs.

What could come:

Several important characters of mortal Kombat they were missing in the first installment, so in future projects they could take a lead role. Mythical characters like Reptile, Kitana, Smoke, Baraka, Noob Saitob or the protagonist Johnny Cage, To whom the director dedicated a good explanation of why he was not in the film, could see his appearance in future productions.

Rumors that Ryan Reynolds would become Johnny Cage in this sequel were resonating for a while on the internet, to which the actor himself he replied laughing at them. In this way, one began to think also of Gal Gadot to interpret to Kitana. But the truth is that very little is still known about these projects.

Supposedly Ryan Reynolds as Johnny Cage

Either way, the end of Mortal Kombat made it clear that more deadly tournaments would be held between the Earth Kingdom and the Outer World Kingdom, so surely we will end up seeing multiple sequels to this new cinematic reboot of the saga.
