Mother of San Antonio who disappeared along with an arrested baby

SAINT ANTHONY – San Antonio police have tracked down and arrested a woman who had been under investigation for missing people for weeks.

Records show that 20-year-old D’Lanny Chairez was jailed Tuesday morning on charges of abandoning or endangering a child.

Police issued an alert earlier this month about Chairez who, along with her 18-month-old son, had been missing.

An affidavit of the arrest warrant says relatives told police they were worried they had not seen the baby since around Thanksgiving.

Police also released two clips taken from surveillance cameras inside a drug store and on a VIA bus.

The video of the store appeared to show Chairez pushing a stroller, while in the video of the bus there was no evidence of a baby.

The affidavit says investigators believe Chairez may have abandoned the child.

Announcements

She says she refused to answer the researchers ’questions, but told them she didn’t feel ready to be a mother and considered giving the baby up for adoption.

Investigators say they searched his trailer and found a sheet from a crib with what he proved to be human blood.

SAPD researchers believe baby James is still in the San Antonio area. They ask for any information about the whereabouts of baby James and who he may be with to call the SAPD Missing Persons Unit at 210-207-7660.

Chairez is being held with a $ 250,000 bond.
