MSNBC host Joy Reid attacked rapper Nicki Minaj after the artist tweeted that she had decided not to get vaccinated despite contracting coronavirus and defending inoculation.
“You have a platform, sister, that is, 22 million followers,” Reid said Monday during a discussion on his program about vaccine warrants and misinformation. “I have 2 million followers … You have 22 million followers on Twitter. Use your platform to encourage our community not to protect themselves and save lives … my sister God, you could do better than this “.
Reid added that Minaj’s massive follow-up to his music career is “a blessing” telling the hip-hop star that “people listen to you more than they don’t listen to me.”
“Because you use your platform to put people in the position of dying of a disease from which they should not die, oh my God,” Reid continued. “As a fan, as a hip-hop and as someone who is your fan, I’m so sad you did it, sister. Oh, my God.”
This is what happens when you’re so thirsty to fall for another black woman (at the request of the white man), that you didn’t bother reading all my tweets. “My God SISTER do it better” imagine getting your ass on TV a minute after a tweet to spread a fake story about a black woman https://t.co/4UviONyTHy

Minaj, in a series of tweets earlier Monday, revealed that he contracted coronavirus while preparing for the MTV Video Music Awards.
“You know what it’s like not being able to kiss or hold your little baby for more than a week? A baby who’s just used to his mother?” Minaj said in a tweet.
In another shared tweet, Minaj said her cousin’s account of her friend’s vaccination also influenced her decision not to inoculate herself.
“My cousin in Trinidad will not get the vaccine because her friend got it and became helpless. Her testicles swelled. Her friend was a few weeks away from getting married, now the girl canceled the wedding. So just pray for it and make sure you are comfortable with your decision, don’t intimidate it, ”she said.
The rapper, who attacked several prominent media figures who had criticized her tweets, responded to Reid’s comments Monday evening.
